Woman, Daughter Injured in Heavy Shelling by Pakistan Along LOC: Report
New Delhi: As Indian launched strikes and targeted nine locations housing terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on early Wednesday (May 7), the Pakistani army carried out heavy mortar shelling on forward villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said that a woman and her daughter were injured, one of them critically, when their house was hit by Pakistani shelling in Poonch district, reported Press Trust of India.
Shortly after the Indian strikes, the intense shelling from the Pakistani side was reported from Krishna Ghati, Shahpur and Mankote in Poonch, Laam, Manjakote and Gambeer Brahmana in Rajouri district in Jammu region and Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara districts, said officials.
After the shelling from across the border, Indian security forces guarding the border also retaliated and the cross-border shelling between both the countries was going on when the last reports were received, said the officials.
Earlier, In a statement released by the defence ministry at 1:44 am, the government said that “a little while ago”, Indian armed forces struck “terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed”.
