Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance visits Bengaluru: Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal and other MPs drive engagements with key institutions
Bengaluru, May 8, 2025: Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) & Founder Chancellor, Lovely Professional University and a distinguished member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance, participated in a two-day study visit to Bengaluru on May 5 and 6, 2025. The Committee members engaged with key financial and sectoral institutions with the objective of strengthening institutional evaluation and oversight mechanisms.
During the visit, the Committee held extensive consultations with senior leadership from prominent public sector banks, financial institutions, and central public sector enterprises. The members discussed a wide range of subjects, including green financing and sustainable investments, the performance of rural and agricultural credit institutions, the role of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks in corporate valuation, insurance sector regulation, and the dynamics of credit flow in the banking system.
The Committee met with top executives from the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC), ONGC, GAIL, Canara Bank, and several other organizations. These engagements aimed to inform the Committee’s recommendations to Parliament on the long-term sustainability of India’s financial systems and public sector enterprises.
Dr. Mittal’s continued participation reflects his commitment to policy development rooted in ground-level engagement and sectoral expertise.
